40% still not smoking after 2 years & 85% reduction in absenteeism
New independent research in Italy shows that after two years 40% were still not smoking after attending Allen Carr’s Easyway to stop smoking seminars.
In addition, absenteeism was reduced by 85% as a result over the two year period.
The return on investment was estimated at 1.90 so the organisation nearly doubled its profit from the investment.
The study was conducted with Healthcare workers at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome.
A pilot observational longitudinal pre-post intervention study was set for Healthcare workers who attended the Allen Carr’s Easyway seminars. After the seminar, a follow-up period was planned to investigate the success rate after six months, one year and two years. Occupational data including seniority, shift work, and professional category were collected from the medical records of the periodical occupational surveillance; current information at the time of the SSP course was present in the last medical visit attended by participants. Econometrical data was made available by the hospital’s Human Resources Directorate.
The conclusion was:
“Our pilot study confirms that WHP programs [Allen Carr’s Easyway seminars] are simple and cost-saving tools which may help improve control over the smoking pandemic in healthcare settings.”
Allen Carr’s Easyway is a drug free, cognitive restructuring therapy which has two randomised control trials and is approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). NICE have stated that is should be available to all smokers as an option to stop smoking in UK and is cost effective and cost saving.
Allen Carr‘s Easyway to Stop Smoking Seminar Programme does not rely on any nicotine, nicotine substances, patches or other pharmaceuticals. It challenges the reasons why people smoke, and most people report that they not only stop smoking, but actually lose the desire to smoke.
