Dr.Vishal Rao is presently the Chief of Head & Neck Surgical oncology & Robotic surgery at HCG Cancer Centre, Bangalore. He completed his post-graduation in otorhinolaryngology from a reputed institute in Karnataka & fellowship in Head & Neck oncology surgery from a well-known institute in Mumbai.
Dr. Vishal Rao has always taken up social initiatives, especially on tobacco-awareness and dreams of a tobacco-free world.
He is also editor of journal of precision oncology and has over 100 national & international publications to his credit, a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Otolaryngology in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, USA, a Consultant at the Institute of Public Health and a Director of the Cancer Prevention and Tobacco Control Project with W.H.O Tobacco Free Initiatives partners and is a visiting faculty of John Hopkins University leadership programs.
The other positions held by Dr. Vishal Rao are: Member of the Union for International Cancer control (UICC) Globalink – Global Tobacco Control; a Member of National Executive Committee for the Foundation of Head and Neck Oncology (FHNO); Executive Board Member of the State Association for Otolaryngology – Head Neck Surgery, Karnataka and a Member of the Action Council against Tobacco (ACT) – India.
Dr.Vishal is the inventor of ‘Aum Voice Prosthesis’ a $1 speaking device for throat cancer patients. His invention is a part of 100 global social innovations across the globe. With over 13 patents filed for his innovation on medical devices, drugs, techniques & theories, Dr.Vishal has received wide recognition from BBC, Harvard Business Review & Forbes.
