Introduction

A new UK government-supported initiative has enlisted influencers Big Manny and Dr Bodalia to urge teenagers not to commence vaping, after evidence shows more and more young people are vaping.

In fact, 5% of 11-17 year olds had vapes in 2013 growing to 18% in 2024.

Furthermore, one in every ten secondary school students admits to using them either occasionally or regularly.

The influencers will utilise popular social platforms like Instagram and YouTube to create awareness about vaping health risks.

Reaction from the Medical Sector

Sarah Sleet, CEO of Asthma + Lung UK, highlighted that vaping causes airway inflammation and the triggering of conditions like Asthma. She further warned that nicotine exposure from vaping could damage the still-developing brains of children and adolescents.

Dr Mike McKean from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health expressed concern that young people could end up with damage to their lungs and a lifelong nicotine addiction.

Unfortunately, the full effects of vaping products may not be identified for many years, potentially coming to light when it’s too late to reverse the harm.

Comment by Allen Carr’s Easyway

At Allen Carr’s Easyway, every year we see thousands of vapers who we help to freedom with our drug free one day seminar. The increasing numbers of people addicted to only vaping over the last ten years is of significant concern particularly the growth in numbers of young people.

We’ve been warning for years that young people will get drawn into nicotine addiction as a result of lack of regulation and it’s quite predictable that vapers will increase the amount and strength of nicotine they consume as a result of addiction. That’s simply how addiction works – levels of the drug do not reduce – the addiction gets progressively worse.

Education – This is important to help people understand that vaping is not safe just perceived as safer than smoking and so we support such initiatives.

Regulation – Vaping is not harmless and so regulating the way they are marketed and accessed is important

Assistance – This is the part that is often overlooked but there needs to be help for vapers that have fallen into the nicotine trap to find freedom.

Allen Carr’s Easyway to stop vaping provides a drug free, proven, effective, easy solution to getting free from cigarettes without the need to switch to vaping and remaining a nicotine addict.
