Barrow smoking rates halve thanks to Allen Carr’s Easyway
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that less than 10% of people in Barrow now smoke compared with 21% last year.
Allen Carr’s Easyway were brought in by Westmorland and Furness Council to help the smokers of Barrow.
Colin Cox, previous Director of Public Health called the results “Excellent”.
Cllr Patricia Bell, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Care, said:
“We were really pleased to see the success of the pilot scheme [Allen Carr’s Easyway] that ran last year. There were some brilliant results for residents which is why are delighted to support this scheme again to help people stop smoking for good.”
