Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking Clinic in London
Our worldwide network of stop smoking clinics started in London
Allen Carr’s Easyway To Stop Smoking organisation started in a modest house in Blenheim Road, Raynes Park, London. Allen started to provide One to One Sessions in a spare room and soon more and more people attended each session. Before too long it was clear that he needed to take on some commercial premises that would allow him to see larger groups of smokers and he found a great consulting room in Amity Grove a short stroll from his home. It was at these premises that I stopped smoking myself and to which I eventually returned to take over as the lone therapist for London in early 1998.It was such an adventure and privilege to develop the stop smoking services for London and enable thousands and thousands of smokers to find it easy to stop smoking. I remember when the premises below the consulting room at Amity Grove became available – we snapped it up quickly and doubled our annual capacity in one move. With two consulting rooms each able to accommodate 12-18 smokers and with a smashing team of gradually assembled and trained stop smoking therapists (Sue Bolshaw, Cris, Hay, Colleen Dwyer to name but a few) we set about curing Londoners of smoking with great pride.
As the stop smoking method grew in popularity in London, the UK, and around the world it wasn’t long before we outgrew even the extended Amity Grove. We were now handling the worldwide demands of a global stop smoking operation. Again we moved a short stroll from where it all started, still in Raynes Park, London, to our current home Park House in Pepys Road.
It’s wonderful to help smokers stop smoking rather than have them feel that they have to “quit smoking” or “give up” smoking and at the London Stop Smoking Centre we also provide the programmes for those who want to stop drinking and for those who want to control their weight as well as perform the function of being Allen Carr’s Easyway’s Worldwide HQ.
Raynes Park is just a short walk from Wimbledon and its world famous tennis courts and easily accessed from Central London. The Stop Smoking Team of Colleen Dwyer, Cris Hay, Emma Hudson, and Rob Fielding work wonders while Cris Hay is also the senior therapist for the alcohol and weight programmes.
It’s so fantastic helping Londoners to stop smoking and even more amazing to be playing a part in helping the world do the same.
