Dear Boris, keep it simple, stupid!

Dear Mr Johnson, A 9th June 2022 report recommends a rise in the legal age for smoking to 21, something which is clearly unlikely to survive the consultation process.

On the same day you promised lots of help to cope with the cost-of-living crisis. I think families impoverished by the cost of smoking need help now more than ever. This is something that will lift millions of households out of poverty or at least partially ameliorate the impact as the cost-of-living crisis deepens.

You have pledged to cut costs in all UK households this year…why not take urgent, cost-effective action by providing extra help for smokers to quit? Allen Carr’s Easyway is standing by, is ready, able, and willing to undertake a huge stop smoking campaign to help (literally) millions of UK smokers to quit in the next 12 months.

It’s time for you to deploy a simple, easy to deliver, clinically proven, world-leading solution to the smoking problem to low income smokers across the UK.

Rather than it being delivered by a costly, unproven “flashy” app that costs millions and won’t be compatible with older smartphones (exactly the type owned by those most in need of help from the “levelling up” and “reducing health inequalities” campaigns) it is delivered via a simple link that provides access to our live seminars or our online video programme.

Never has the phrase, “Keep it simple, stupid” been more apt.

A family of 4 with one smoker spending around £5 a day on cigarettes takes nearly £2,000 per year out of the family budget.

We shouldn’t be nagging and badgering those smokers to quit with scary health warnings – we should instead be inspiring them to “give it a go”.

It should be broadcast far and wide that it can be easy to get free from cigarettes, if you know how. And we know how.

Now THAT’S exciting news for smokers and their families!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Will banning under 21s from buying cigarettes work?

We support anything that helps smokers to quit but will banning under 21s from buying cigarettes make them seem more alluring to youngsters?

Great if it prevents kids from starting smoking but wouldn’t it be better to also offer smokers more ways to quit?

Isn’t it time to offer something different?

What if a smoker has tried nicotine patches, gum, and vaping?

Isn’t it time to offer them something different, drug-free, & clinically proven and a wonderful opportunity to be excited at the prospect of stopping smoking easily?

It’s time to offer smokers hope and lift them out of poverty

Even a light smoker is likely to be spending around £2k a year out of their household budget on cigarettes. It’s time to offer them hope, more help, and an amazing opportunity to be free from the addiction while also being lifted out of poverty.

There’s more help for smokers on the way

There’s more help for smokers on the way but I hope the NHS & Dept of Health keep it simple.

There’s an amazing opportunity to use technology to help smokers to quit – but if the focus is on complex apps which won’t work on the older phones used by a majority of smokers who need help – it won’t contribute to levelling up or have an impact on health inequalities.

Our online live group seminars and online video programmes rely on a simple link – nothing more complicated than that – and deliver a clinically proven, drug-free, cost-effective way of stopping smoking
