Allen Carr’s Easyway To Stop Smoking organisation support the campaign for plain cigarette packaging. Plain Packs combined with providing smokers with an effective method of stopping smoking would be a great step in the direction of reducing the influence of Big Tobacco on youngsters and helping smokers to stop.

We thought long and hard about whether to support plain packs and the following points were compelling.

a) we support plain packs not graphic photos of smoking diseases. Graphic photos eventually become ignored by smokers who “tune out” of them in the same way as they have done with the printed health warnings on the packs. Even the smokers who notice the graphic photo warnings and experience fear are likely to react by…lighting a cigarette. If a smoker experiences fear – what does he do? He smokes.

b) plain packs will have nil impact on current smokers and current smoker behaviour – other than to perhaps annoy smokers and (in some cases) make them even more determined to carry on.

c) if there is the slightest chance that plain packs will reduce the number of kids starting to smoke – we really do have to support it – there is an epidemic of youngsters taking up smoking….even if it’s the equivalent of bailing out a sinking boat with a teacup – at least it’s doing something!!

d) are plain packs realistically going to cause harm? No

e) our support is for plain packs combined with providing smokers with effective methods of stopping smoking (of course this is where we come in). Without that element the plain packs campaign is more than a little lightweight. The wording of our support hopefully makes that clear.

The great news for smokers is that there is an easy way to quit smoking. In the UK Allen Carr’s Easyway has clinics in London, Reading, Staines, Bournemouth, Brighton, Birmingham, Southampton, Maidstone, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Manchester, Lancashire, Nottingham, Derby, Coventry, Leicester, Milton Keynes. Newcastle, Stoke, Crewe, Bristol, Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, and Scotland. It doesn’t have to be hard to quit smoking – you just have to become a happy non-smoker rather than someone who thinks they have given up something.

I finished the Easyway For Women To Quit Smoking on April 29, 2012, and have been smoke-free ever since. I had been a smoker for 38 years!! I had tried 2 or 3 other times to quit smoking and never ever made it more than 10 hours without a cigarette.

When I share with people about the book and that I am smoke-free, they immediately want to know what’s in the book. I’ve told them its just hard to explain. The book is not magic. It is not vodoo or anything. It just breaks down the smoking addiction and explains what happens in your body and that I don’t know how the book works, I just know that it does.

With that being said. I am from Kentucky (United States). I wish you would open clinics in every state in the United States. I would be willing to help you get the clinics started in Kentucky. I just wish my smoking friends and other smoking Kentuckians could experience the freedom that I am now enjoying.

I researched Allen Carr online. I am so sorry to hear about his death. But isn’t it great to know that he has helped soooooo many people. Thank you Allen Carr and God Bless.
