Allen Carr became a qualified accountant in 1958. He was successful in his chosen profession, but his hundred-cigarettes-a-day addiction was driving him to despair. In 1983, after countless failed attempts to stop with the aid of the willpower method, he finally discovered what the world had been waiting for – the Easy Way to Stop Smoking.

After leaving accountancy to help cure the world’s smokers, Allen built up a global reputation as a result of the phenomenal success of his method. He is now recognized as the world’s leading expert on helping smokers to quit. Smokers used to have to fly from all over the world to attend his clinic in London; now his network of clinics spans the globe.
His organisation, Allen Carr’s Easyway, has clinics in more than 150 cities in over 45 countries.

Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking is now an international bestseller, selling over 13 million books in more than 38 different languages. His second book, The Only Way to Stop Smoking Permanently,and DVD, audio and CD-ROM versions of his method are also available. In his subsequent publications, Allen Carr’s Easyweigh to Lose Weight and Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Drinking, he applied the same simple logic to weight-loss and alcohol, so that it becomes easy and enjoyable, as those attending his clinics have discovered.

Sadly Allen Carr died on 29th November 2006.

He was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer in the summer of 2006. It seems probable that the years he spent curing smokers in smoke-filled sessions at his clinics may have contributed to this illness.

Before his death Allen remarked “Since I smoked my final cigarette, 23 years ago, I have been the happiest man in the world, I still feel the same way today”.
