I finished reading the book 8 weeks ago and have not smoked since. Compared to the many previous attempts, this was easy. Every smoker should read this book!I am listening to a debate about cigarette packaging on the radio and hearing people say how hard it is to see cigarettes on the shelf in shops whilst ‘giving up’. Not for me it isn’t – In fact it makes me smile.

Hello, I am 22 years old, student, from Romania. I have been a smoker since I was 15. I must state a few facts before I get to the real issue. You see, Romania is, I believe, in the top smoking countries in Europe. Why? Basically because it’s cheap, for a few years since we joined EU the price got higher, but still it’s not 5 euros, it’s just 2 euros (for now). When I started smoking (and my parents smoke a lot too, since they were 19) they were really cheap, under 1 euro. Everyone was doing it, anyone could buy them, they all told us it was wrong, it was just a rebel thing to do. They got us dizzy and that was cool. We were posing as those misunderstood, intelligent teenagers that had to smoke to complete the picture. I easily got hooked. Eversince then I wanted several times to stop, but it was indeed fear in my way, fear that I couldn’t drink a cup of coffee without a cigarette, or read or write or drink beer, that was a dreadful thought. When I did not smoke I did get the empty feeling in my lungs that I had to fill with smoke. That’s when I knew it was not a habit, it was actually the need for nicotine and Allen Carr confirmed that. I was quite proud of myself while reading that I discovered that on my own. I know I am an addict. Unfortunately I am very young and know I can stop.
I started reading Allen Carr’s book after speaking with my friend about quiting smoking. You see, I am a young adult that already has dark spots on my face, all my bones creak and I have my mother’s body example that convinced it was time. My friend told me about the book and I immediately got it and found myself in it.
What I wanted to say was I had never feel the same urge of smoking like when I read the book. All I could want was a cigarette, I followed the instructions and continued smoking while reading, but I had to light them one after the other until I finished the book. Just as a curiosity, every time me and my friends watch a movie, for example, in which the characters are smoking we are dying for one…
I do feel freed now and know I can enjoy all my other habits without having to smoke.

I gave up on December 16th 2008 after reading Allen’s book- the only way to permanently give up smoking.
It is excellent – my life has changed immeasurably – no more dark shadows in my mind wondering what illness I might contract. – I had smoked from 18 to the age of 34 – I gave up for a year twice and averaged 10 a day but on a night out it could easily be twice that.
I had been a reluctant smoker after about 3 years into my journey of destruction -I knew I needed to quit. An ex colleague suggested it to me and all I can say is this is the only healthy effective way to quit.
I actually lost weight and took up cycling – no cravings, when I see someone light up I am filled with a mixture of concern and sympathy that they are still slaves to the weed. Thank God I am free.
My self esteeem increased immeasurably!
When will the NHS wake up – but as we know smokers are bankrolling the govt.
Please please give it a go.
Pour Lila, je suis sure que vous pourrez le faire. Je crois que c’est assez difficile en France parce qu’il est autour de vous mais ca me semble que vous etes deja gueri:-) Bon courage!

It’s been 3yrs since I stopped smoking at an Allen Carr clinic. I’d been a smoker for 38 years and there was nothing i hadn’t tried to stop – patches, gum, pills, hypnotherapy, you name it…
I went to the clinic completely sceptical (only because someone at work had recommended it). I was convinced it wouldn’t work – even when i left i honestly thought i’d be smoking that evening. But did I? No. Not a single pang, no stress, no cravings. I was and have been completely cool about it since. My husband carried on smoking around me for a year after i quit – never once a problem for me. I still don’t know how it worked but i don’t care. I’m just over the moon. Thank you Allen Carr xxx

Robin said,
Thank you and by way of introduction
First and foremost, thank you for the gift that you have given me –
The Gift of Freedom
I am 60 years old and smoked for 42 years. Never tried to quit. Never even considered it. Cut down to almost nothing a number of times, usually after a cold or other illness but eventually, the intake crept back up.
Life, however, has dramatically changed for me over the past 18 months. I am a highly educated and previously successful business person who simply put is one of the many victims of the recession and the economy. I am simply caught in the horrible, unenviable place of having too much experience to be considered or be willing to take an unskilled labor position, of having a standard of living achieved after 30 odd years in the workplace and no income or available jobs to match that standard. In short, there just are no jobs suitable for me. So – the smoking became my only friend.
And I coughed. And I started hating the outlay of money to support a habit that was not fun anymore.
One day, I met someone who told me that she was now smoke- free and gave me the name of your book. I ordered it and read a chapter every night with admitted skepticism. Somewhere around the middle, I started looking forward to my nightly read and at the end, read 4 chapters, passed on the “final” cigarette ritual – that I had already had my last cigarette and that was it.
I gave myself a Valentine’s Day present this year – a year in which there have been no presents or luxuries or even truthfully, smiles.
And it is because of you – thank you so much. The amount of days that I have been free is irrelevant; the only thing that matters is that I am never falling back into that trap. I got my aha moment the first morning after I finished our book and I am stunned – truly – one big scam wrought by a greedy cigarette industry and now perpetuated by the ancillary aids and drug companies that now are making millions by offering assistance in breaking an addiction that does not even truly exist!
As a postscript, if you ever want to start a satellite location in the South Florida area of the United States, I would so love to be involved in your organization. It is a place where you could and would do very well. Until then, I will continue to reach out to the smokers one at a time.
Robin

I’m from Australia and a rather timid employee of mine gave me this book after I took care of a workplace issue for her as a thankyou to me. I was fairly annoyed at the lady’s presumptuousness at the time, however sensed her intentions were good after she desperately begged me to read it. I am now a non-smoker and am eternally grateful to both Mr Carr and the lovely lady in question.
One thing I would mention wit respect to the method which may or may not help others, I chose to, at the onset, view the nicotine withdrawals as an epic battle, largely me destroying the evil “little monster”. I was actually relishing the prospect as an exciting challenge, in the same fashion as I usually approach my business affairs. My only disappointment was the lack of fight the little critter put up. Perhaps it was the removal of the fear of failure but right up until the last two chapters I was in doubt. Adopting the aforementioned view was the catalyst for my definite acceptance that I was done smoking forever. I hope that this helps someone, somewhere and I also pray that other people for whom the method has worked approach smokers with the courage this very quiet lady managed to summon. An awkward and uncomfortable conversation is only a conversation, however it’s value is immeasurable when it results in a life reclaimed and possibly saved which surely is worth a little discomfort.

I live in Boise, Idaho, am 62 and quit smoking in 1971. I started again in 2009 after 38 years!! I only smoked 5 a day, but had chest pains, headaches, lethargy, guilt, and was starting to feel bloated and ugly faced. Before starting again, I used to be an athlete and glowed with health. I tried to stop about 8 times. My son and daughter-in- law quit the Easy Way last year and wouldn’t let up on me until I read the book. This week I read it in 3 days, smoked my last cigarette today and just felt joy and relief and childlike excitement and cried. You’re message got right inside the mind and heart of this smoker and i felt so understood and supported. You gave me the courage and the excitement to look forward to quitting. You are so right. I feel free and happy and just keep laughing out loud. The fear and addiction is gone. I have absolutely no cravings and wanted to thank you for being the catalyst for me to get my old (great) non smoking life back. God bless you in your wisdom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the book was all I needed back in 1994 !
I always felt extremely uncomfortable going anywhere without my lighter, without my tobacco and paper to roll cigarettes.
After several failures to quit I just stumbled across the book in the library and thought : “why not, let me give it a read without the intention of quitting”.
His book did the trick ! I never ever felt the need to touch tobacco again and I am a “free” man since 13 August 1994 ! Thanks Allen, you probably have saved me from a lot of misery ! Jan de Jager

Yippee, I’m a non-smoker!
My girlfriend bought me the CD-Rom of EASYWAY, and it worked a lot better for me. I think this is because I’m a pretty slow reader, and it would take me about a week to read the book (The Only Way to Stop Smoking), but the CD-Rom is fairly short, so I was fully motivated before I smoked my last cigarette. It is like a single dose of a strong medicine, as opposed to gradual treatment.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to disparage the book, but the CD-Rom worked better for me.
It’s great to finally be free!
Thanks
Steve

This has to be the best book I have ever read.I never really believed or thought that the book would work.
Its such a nice feeling knowing that you will never go back. Its a bit like being with a bad partner who abuses you for years but you still keep going back. The moment you wake up and realise how bad this person is you openly tell people about how stupid you have been and how you know without doubt that you will never go back.
Mr Carr you have given me something I would never have had without your book.
Thank you so much.

I was given a copy of Allen Carr’s book, but as a smoker of 20+ a day, of over 40 years, who had tried everything to stop, I didn’t hold out much hope. However, I read the book cover to cover 4 times over 2 weeks, and stubbed out my last cigarette on 31/8/07. The first three days were a bit tough, but I never looked back, and now never think about smoking. I would recommend the book to anyone who doesn’t believe it could possibly work – it does!

I never wanted to give up and I enjoyed smoking, I saw myself as more fo a social smoker and smoking gave me enjoyment. WHen financially I found I couldn’t afford to smoke as much as I did I tried to cut down and found it difficult. I tried to stop but found I couldn’t. I read the book found it amazing read it to the last chapter and stopped smoking for a week but started again. I re-read the book and then read it to the end and stopped for good. I no longer want a cigarette, and I actually can’t remember how long I have been a non-smoker but it is over 5years! I am so glad I read the book! I now can’t understand why I wanted to smoke or even thought smoking was enjoyable.

All, I went to the clinic in London in August 2010 and was very apprehensive. The therapist was very ‘human’ and treated us all as adults. She was great at answering any questions and concerns we had and I walked away afterwards convinced i would be smoking by the end of the day. I haven’t touched a cigarette since and nor do i want too. I have been smoke free for almost 8 months and don’t miss it a bit. Be open minded, relaxed and let the Easy Way work for you…

First, I wanted to say how thankful I am for Allen Carr, without the book, I would still be a slave to the weed, as he would put it. I felt like this book was written especially for me (I guess a lot of smokers feel this way). Everything he said, made absolute perfect sense to me. I couldn’t wait to finish so i could quit, thats how much of an effect it had on me. I had been a heavy smoker for the last 15 years and I was at the point where I thought I would be smoking until I died from it. I never tried to quit in all that time, because everytime I even thought about it, I had a panic attack feeling that I could not get over and would end up smoking 2 cigs back to back, actually, I did that a lot, but I digress. I am now 8 days clean from the evil weed and feeling great! My mission is now to help others quit, because if I can quit, ANYBODY can! If Allen Carr can quit, after smoking 5 packs a day, ANYBODY can! I am buying this book for all my smoking buddies, and will not stop until they have all quit. I feel like I have to, they all feel like I did, just sick of having to go thru life stinking and a slave to the evil tobacco. I wish Allen were alive today, I would have loved to have met him and share my story with him. I wish everybody luck with their quits and am truly thankful for Allen’s inspiring story and words. He made my life better, and my wife thanks him too! I live in Chicago and was spending $10 per pack of cigarettes, I am now putting that money into an account at the end of each month and it looks like I should have a hefty sum of money waiting for me in 15 years when I want to retire. I figure, I would have spent the money on cigs anyway, may as well see what I can buy with all that money in 15 years!!! Allen Carr is my hero, thank you for everything!

I attended the course when I was trying to do something positive for myself when everything else in my life was in such a state. Honestly, I didn’t think I would last a day and thought I’d use the back up sessions within a couple of weeks but I didn’t.
Six months on and I’m still not smoking. I always thought I’d be a smoker for the rest of my life. I had tried so many times to give up using all sorts of methods but nothing ever worked. Now, with better understanding through Allen Carr, I realise that was just the fear.
Thank you!!!

I am so thankful to Allen Carr’s book.I had been lying to myself and others for quite some time about the fact that I hadn’t totally quit smoking. I convinced myself that I was doing good only smoking a few cigs a day. Then my son decided he was also going to quit the night before his 30th Birthday. Knowing how hard it was going to be I started a search on the web for ideas that could help him. I guess I still didn’t feel I needed help, just him. I found a u-tube video of Allen Carr’s book and became interested. I ordered the book and read it cover to cover. Wow, he even addressed what I was doing. After reading the book , i am now 100% smoke free. I told my son about the book. He ordered one also.He told his best friend and now he is also free from smoking. My niece who is getting married this summer is reading the book and passing it on to her best friend. This one book has started a wonderful chain reaction in my family and I am forever grateful. All of this has happened within the last 3 weeks. I can’t wait to see all the lives changed as time goes on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!

Sitting in Dr. Lindsay Hayward’s office for the first time, she’s asking me the routing questions to get to know me. Second question, “Do you smoke?” I replied, “Well, kind of, I don’t smoke in public, never around the kids, in fact not many people know I even smoke!”
Dr. Hayward repeats,” How much do you smoke?”
“Well it varies; I love a cigarillo with a glass of wine. If we don’t have the kids, I will have a coffee and a smoke in the morning, but rarely do I smoke at work during the day.”
“How much do you smoke?” She asks me again.
I finally confessed, “Umm I don’t count, but on average maybe 10 per day, but sometimes none and sometimes more.” I lied; it was more like 20 per day fairly regularly.
She then tells me about a book that may help me quit, she writes down on a prescription pad the name of this author I hadn’t heard of, Allen Carr. She tells me that this may work for me.
Now backing up a little, I have already set a goal for 2011 to get back into the gym after taking two years off and get healthy! I appear to be fit, size 4, muscular, white teeth, good skin, full of energy. But my secret’s safe with me! I am – or was a smoker.
Being an avid reader the book intrigued me, but I hung onto that prescription note for weeks until I found Mr. Carr’s book on ITUNES. I downloaded it and plugged in my headphones. Two days later I am on chapter 29 and suspend reading. If I end the book, I have to quit, don’t I.? Am I ready? Will I succeed this time? Everything that Mr. Carr says about the “Smokers rationale” is so true! I even laughed out loud in spots, identifying with my own thoughts.
Week 5 at the gym finds me lighting up after a great workout, how crazy is that?
I finally had my last cigarillo. Day 7 and I am so done with that filthy weed! It truly is that easy!
I visited Dr Hayward’s office the other day and thanked her for saving my life. . . I thank you also Mr. Carr for saving my life!
Sincerely,
Lara

Hiya all,
Smoker of 40 cigs daily, for over 40 years. Went to clinic at Oxford, greatlady taking class, made all feel comfortable. Went home feeling positive, but by midnight had driven to garage and bought, and smoked, packet of cigarettes. Phoned clinic in morning, kept smoking, went back to clinic following week and had 2 hours refresher, and haven’t smoked since. That was 3 months and 1 week ago. Found it mildly difficult, and strange sometimes, but really think I am over it. No great epiphany, or overwhelming feeling, but just haven’t smoked. No idea why or how it works, just does. Thank you all so much

Just as the book is titled EASY WAY, and so it began – my story. – It truly was the easy way for me and Its been 9 years now since i smoked a cigarette, and it was all down to this ingenious mans book.. Before reading it I initially had hypnotherapy to give us smoking. I had a cigarete within 2 hours after the hypnotherapy. I then tried acupuncture, which, was very relaxing, admittedly but again didnt “cure” me, as i had so hoped. Next, I tried the patches, chewing gum and the nicorette cigarette. Fail, fail, fail… Id almost got to the point where id beaten myself up so much i felt i was destined to smoke forever. Then an old friend, who had smoked 20 a day for years told me about the Easy Way book… At first, like so many i was very sceptical, but for the price of book decided Id give it a whirl, and here I am 9 years on, having never smoked again after completing the book..
Whats more, I was gettting married too, and also on a diet (talk about giving myself the biggest challenge) I acheived both weight loss and smoking cessation, and am so very proud of myself to this day.
I cant thank you enough Mr Carr.. After a few years I got myself a part time job working in my local library. I always remember a lady who always came in coughing very badly, i was sure she was going to keel over. She was a heavy smoker. I told her about your book, and yep she gave up too. I kind of made it my mission then to help others and there are at least 5 people i know of that have also given up.. If there were an opportunity to work with you. To me this book was a marvel. I was desperate to give up as I felt like a slave to smoking. Not anymore, and I know some people dont like me for it, but given any opportunity I promote your book to all those other slaves out there, that just have quite seen the light, YET!
