I started smoking as a teenager in the “smoking lounge” behind the school. Admittedly, it was actually a lot harder to smoke than it seemed and looking back, I am pretty sure I was out there for the social aspect of the habit rather than a burning desire to inhale smoke. That was 1989. I continued to smoke through my 20s, really clobbering a pack or two in an evening at the bar, or happily chatting on the phone with my friends. Two kids later and a bout of pneumonia gave me brief breaks from my habit, only to break down and buy a pack to ease my nic-fit. Finally, I was talking to a friend on the phone about how her brother quit smoking “just like that” – he had just read Allen Carr’s Easyway. I bought the book the next day thinking that I really didn’t have anything to lose and started reading the book immediately. I related to the messaging right away and it didn’t take me long to finish the book and smoke my last cigarette. That was March of 2003 and the story isn’t exactly over.

People I had know for years were quietly monitoring my progress… they were my smoking buddies, and everyone knows not to ask a recent ex-smoker how things are going too soon. I kept up my positive self-talk about being a happy non-smoker and didn’t feel deprived at all. Then my mother got very sick after coming back from an over-seas trip. She was so sick, we thought we were going to lose her and I spent every spare minute I could at the hospital. If I couldn’t sleep, I called the nurses to get updates. It was a terribly stressful time.

It was about the third week into my mothers illness and I was talking to my co-workers giving them an update on her condition. As I unloaded my troubles, one of the girls (a regular heavy smoker buddy) piped up and said the words that I have never forgotten to this day.

“All that s**t you have been dealing with and you haven’t had ONE cigarette?”

At that second, I knew it hadn’t even occurred to me that I hadn’t wanted, craved or even ‘needed’ a cigarette. At that second, I realized that I had officially became a happy non-smoker (even though it had been 2 months since I actually quit). I knew at that very second I would really really really never smoke again!

Its been over 8 years, and I make sure that anyone who asks knows exactly what I read and how I knew I finally quit for life.

Sincerely,
Avril

PS – It took my mother about a year to completely recover but I’m happy to report that she is still alive and kicking like she should be!

Hi,

I just wanted to say a big Thank you. It was SO EASY to quit after reading Alen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking!!!

I must admit I was not sure that I was going to be successful – until day 1 of being smoke free that is. From day 1, it has genuinely been incredibly easy. The book does exactly what it says on the tin. Makes quitting easy. Thanks Again.

I just wanted to share how wonderful it is to have quit smoking. I have smoked a pack a day for the last twenty years and have quit several times before using nicotine replacement products. It never lasted.

And although I am only at day 8 of being a non-smoker, I know that I will never go back to smoking. And it is truly amazing just how easy it really was to stop. In fact, of all the attempts that I have ever made, this one has been by far the easiest. And I know that it will last.

I am so thankful to have been introduced to Allen Carr’s book and I am sharing it with my loved ones who are still smoking.

It feel great to be a non-smoker!

Sincerely,

Donna

Hello,

I was just about to head to the pharmacy to get a prescription filled for Welbutrin to help me stop smoking when my bookseller called to tell me the Allan Carr book was in. I picked it up. Read it in one afternoon. Discovered that I had already stopped smoking (little monster dead after two weeks of no fags) but big monster hadn’t caught up yet. Went outside and took a walk and damned near cried for joy.

Just beginning week 4. Urges actually still come ‘round but now I see them as pops and cracks of a dying fire.

Thank you.

I attended the London clinic last Thursday with no great hopes, having been a heavy professional smoker for 45 years.

I had read Easyway and was part through Only Way. I could see the logic of much, and disagreed with some, but the Moment had not happened.

I was not particularly impressed with the session, but followed through the ritual of stubbing out my “last” cigarette at 3.50pm.

I am sure that you would have put me down as one of the anticipated 10% failures.

I am absolutely astounded that I have not had the slightest desire to smoke since that session – no withdrawal symptoms, nothing. All despite the fact that my wife is a heavy smoker so I am still immersed in fug, which I now find extremely distasteful.

With kind regards and many many thanks

Geoff

I have been feeling so good that is unbelieable… and I know I will stick to it… Your method really opened my eyes in a way I have never felt or seen the reality of the smoking trap… I just wish that all the smokers in the world could read this book! Bu the most amazing thing is how I stoped drinking whit this method. After a very ugly devorce I started to ease myself whit a good glas of wine every night and that escalated to a very bad habit. I could`nt stop and I felt very very bad. Then I found Allens book and red it and now I am free! Ohhhh how good that is! Thank You Allen Carr. You hav saved my life! I know that my mail is so “too much” but this is really how I feel!

Thank you again!

I’m 19 years old from Columbus, Ohio and used to smoke a pack a day for about 3 years. My friends got me into the bad habit, and indeed encouraged it. They still do. But now I can handle it.

I’m writing this 16 days after finishing Allen Carr’s book, and haven’t had a cigarette since. I feel fantastic. I feel like a 19 year old should feel – young and full of energy.

I have an app on my smartphone that calculates the statistics of when you quit smoking. 16.29 days after the final smoke, I have not smoked approximately 293.37 cigarettes, saved about $103.71, and got 1 day 5 hours and 18 minutes of my life back. Being a kid on summer break, I’ve gotten drunk numerous times and STILL haven’t smoked!

Of course there are urges, but Allen Carr teaches you a few simple things to think about whenever the desire arises. He literally de-programs this one bad habit from your mindset, and encourages you to know that quitting smoking doesn’t change who you are at all – it only improves everything about you as a human being!

Simply unbelievable! All thanks to this book!

Allen Carr, Rest in peace. You were a genius.

I was a heavy smoker for over 35 years. I was given the book as a Christmas present seven years ago. On new year’s day I was on the one but last page smoking a cigar and thinking to myself “will I really be a non-smoker by the time I finish the next page?” I went back and skimmed over the book in case I missed something. Nothing! I finished reading the last page. I haven’t smoked or wanted to smoke since! I come from Cyprus and live in the UK.

I am 29 years old. I started smoking when I was 15 years old. It started out as the occasional cigarette here and there and by the age of 20 I was a pack a day smoker. By the time I read the easyway I was miserable and smoking almost 2 packs a day. Initially, I thought I was free. But 4 months later I was secretly smoking on my patio and more miserable than ever. I realized I must have missed something and purchased the easyway for women. Finally it clicked! I am so happy I am finally free from this misery! The first time I read easyway I was skeptical and couldn’t imagine living without cigarettes. I realize now that I never enjoyed smoking and I have absolutely nothing to miss. Reading Fiona’s story finally made it click. I changed my personal statement right then and there! I too was coming home to an empty house and sitting alone, miserably smoking my life away. Thank you so much for helping me realize the trap I was caught in. I know now that I will never smoke again. I can have a a beautiful, smoke free life! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I had been a smoker for 11 years—one to three packs per day—and had never been able to quit for more than a week unless I used the patch. I was always “cutting down” and would have really bad overindulgent nights because of this method. I couldn’t bare the idea of cold turkey, but after reading Mr. Carr’s book, I quit the next day. I didn’t plan for it; it seemingly was on a whim. I work in a kitchen and almost immediately the food began to taste better, my nose started clearing up, and my cough started to go away. Less dizzy spells and headaches. Mr. Carr I can’t thank you enough for showing me the proper coping mechanisms and frame of mind for successfully quitting. It has been so surprisingly painless and easy. Now, I just need to find a new hobby with all of this money and better health.

I tried to quit smoking using drugs and had no success. A friend of mine told me to read this book. She lent me her copy and for 3 weeks I read that book from cover to cover and on December 26 of 2010 I quit smoking. I tested myself on that day and wrote down how i felt in a two hour period of not having a cigarette, I was calm, i happy i was content. Then i went and lit was was going to be my last cigarette and felt ANXIOUS. I butted it and said Ithis isn’t for me. I am happy tosay, because of Allen Carr’s book, How to stop smoking Permanently I am now a non smoker of over 6 months and since that day I have had NO cravings, desires or wants of a cigrarette, nor does it bother me when someone smokes in front of me. Now if only I could get my hands on a copy of this book to share with friendss I’d be so happy. As well I ‘m trying to locate a copy of Easy weigh. Being on a Disability makes income short, but Thanks you so much Allen Carr for illustrating the truth to me that its a delusion.

Последнюю сигарету я покурил в кафе и запил последним глотком кофе, я запомнил этот момент как “победу над монстром” который сейчас стонет и плачет. Но я знаю что моя жизнь изменилась с этого момента и на всегда!!!

I quit on April 29, 2011 never having heard of Allen Carr nor his methods. I am 55 years old and was “suffocating” each day. A cardiologist looked at me and said, “Quit or die”….I physically found the will to quit 18 days later. The first 6 weeks were easy, until I had my angiogram procedure. The doctors determined that my arterial blockage was “insignificant” and that my pain was “merely angina”….hmmm, not so bad, eh? Then the mind games started, as in, “maybe I could just smoke a little bit”, or “darn, no one else in my life has changed, why should I have to?”….came very close to giving in….in fact, truth be told, I cheated twice (ouch! haven’t told anyone that!) Anyway, I kept plugging away, but was miserable… then a few days ago a friend of mine lent me her copy of “EASYWAY”….I read it cover to cover over a one day period…IT WAS THE BEST READ I’VE EVER DONE!!!! I will be forever grateful to my dear friend for passing it along! Very timely, and will ensure my success!!
Bless YOu, Allen Carr…you are a gift to mankind!!!!

I’m now on day 4 of being a non-smoker and can’t believe how easy this is so far!

I attended an Easyway clinic in Glasgow on 2nd July and left feeling that I was the one who was going to struggle and fail – everyone else was really positive at the end and already felt like non-smokers. I was a bit worried to be honest!

But – this really has been a surprise to me. I’m feeling great, really positive and the withdrawal symptoms have been minor and so easy to cope with. I know it is only day four but I can only compare it to the times and methods I have tried before. At this point I would be raging at all around me and practically chewing my fingers off. Not this time – I’m genuinely happy to be free and know that I will not have another cigarette.
You need to try this way if you genuinely want to be free from cigarettes. Go to a clinic (you can even use Tesco points, which are tripled when you buy Easyway vouchers) or read the book. This does work!

My friend’s mom brought this back to him from a trip to England. She said it was some popular thing there. He used it and it worked. He had tried several times and had done pretty good on his own, I thought. I figured that this time was because he was ready to quit and this was a sugar pill.

I started using the patch about 6 month later. The next day after I started the patch, he told me to get this book. I really thought he sounded dumb for suggesting it. I kept thinking how stupid it sounded that a book would make me quit smoking. He talked all this stuff that sounded magic. “Oh, I don’t even want to smoke anymore. When I quit, I never wanted one again.” I was like, “yeah and I have some fairy dust to go with your crazy.”

I got it on CD anyway and listened to it while driving and and such. I took the patch off that night and quit within the next day or two.

Allen Carr, I wish you were alive today so I could do something to thank you. I’m sure you’re in a good place in Heaven.

Today is my two-year anniversary since my last cigarette at the Allen Carr clinic. I remember because it’s 4th July – Independence Day, which I thought was quite appropriate.

We left the clinic feeling no different, but then I noticed after a while that I hadn’t really thought about smoking at all. Since then I just haven’t wanted a cigarette. No cravings at all. Admittedly, there’ve been moments when I’ve had a small twinge (nostalgia, usually) but it’s so easy to bat away I barely notice it. I am absolutely a non-smoker, whereas it used to feel like a key element of my life, almost part of my identity.

I’m extremely grateful. I recommend it to anyone struggling to give up. If you’re worried about the price of the clinic, mine paid for itself after two and a half months of not shelling out for Marlboros. I just worked out that I’ve saved £1,920 by not spending on cigarettes the last couple of years.

Mel (Chester),

I had loathed smoking for a number of years and as a result, loathed myself too. I am a sceptic and so read the Easyway to give up smoking book with some trepidation, but I stopped smoking as soon as I read the final chapter. All the testimonials (including my own) sounded like a sales pitch but now I can honestly say I know how being FREE feels. All my friend’s and family are amazed at how easily I did this and I am too. It is something I have longed to do for years but never had the motivation or understanding of what powered my cravings- nothing. I think the NHS should seriously consider prescribing this book to every smoker who is desperate to give up and as long as you WANT to understand it and you truly WANT to give up, you can!! So many of my friends

I feel really proud of myself, and have gained back the self esteem this habit took from me so long ago. THANK YOU Allen Carr and Easyway for giving me my life back.

I have now not been smoking for over 3 years thank to Alan Carr’s book.
I used to smoke 40 cigarettes (Malboro Red) every dayfor over 9 years. I was very addicted and dependant on my cigarettes. My smoking was my life.

A friend told me to buy your book. My response was that i will only quit smoking if it’s I don’t feel any stress etc by doing so… and here I am over 3 years now. Guys it’s so easy to quit with Alan Carr’s mind-breaking technic.

Since I have stopped smoking my life has completely changed.

Thanks a million Alan

Dear Mr. Carr,

I feel it necessary to write to you explaining my journey to realising I am a non-smoker with your book. I first purchased your book in August 2010, read half of it and gave up. Then I picked it up again toward the end of December so I would be prepared for my New Years Resolution. I completed the book and stopped in the morning, simple! I lasted 4 and a half months roughly when I made the grave error that you warned me about which was I smoked “just 1”, which proved to be very easy, sure I con-cored it the first time and realised it was all in my head and I knew I was in full control of the situation, so I had another. And another. And another, etc etc etc! This went on for a few days until I went back to college and decided I could control it some more and would only smoke the butts of the lads cigarettes and only if they were offered. Needless to say I was back puffing 30+ a day within 2 weeks of torture. This upset me so much but I wasn’t in a position to attempt to quit again, at least I thought I wasn’t but I realise now that I only felt like this because I was stuck back so far in the trap.

I was so sick of being a smoker that I sat up all night last Wednesday and read the full book cover to cover (EASYWAY) and said to myself that I was going to smoke only for the weekend so that I could concentrate on how disgusting those 120+ roll-ups would be for the last few days. I done it, until tonight, I picked up the book again and re-read the chapter “The Final Cigarette”. I sat on the couch and spent a few minutes making the perfect roll-up, contemplating my decision whether or not I was strong enough to stop again. I realised I was, lit up my cigarette and with every disgusting mouthful of its fumes, every time i took a drag and felt it burning my lips and finger tips and the feeling of holding back my smokers cough it dawned on me. I’m free.

I threw the rest of my tobacco into the ashtray, fired it into the bin and went straight to the toilet. I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed my teeth only to see that they are permanently stained, same goes for my finger tips, I coughed up a lump of disgusting brown filth into the sink but I was smiling. I was smiling because I realise I am free. finally free.

I am so excited to walk the 1 1/2 mile walk to work tomorrow and then go to the pool as I can hardly walk to the local shop without wheezing!

I have smoked between 20 and 60 cigarettes a day for the last 8 years. Its finally over. I can start living my life again and for this I am so grateful because I am only 20 years of age and have the hole world in front of me. I am truly, truly thankful to you for making me realise that I can be a non smoker and for driving me to become one. You are a saint among scholars and when you go to sleep at night I hope you realise just how many people like me you have saved and pat yourself on the back!

Thanking you again,

Chris – Ireland

8 days ago from today, i extinguished my last cigarette in the so called attempt at first to give up, my main reason to quit the poison, was because for the past 6 years i have suffering with bouts of anxiety and depression. The anxiety has been winning and taking over my life, socially for the past 5 years i have been a wreck and have only found that i have enjoyed myself properly when i am drunk. This was due to the fact that whilst i was intoxicated i felt at ease and happy with my life, which we all know is just the booze talking.

I quit on the willpower method, along with help form the NHS but with no NRT involved, i have tried that nicotine replacement before and have failed miserably. I was 3 days reprieved from the drug when somebody offered me your book the Easy Way To Stop Smoking to read, lent from an ex smoker from where i work and said read this and you will never want to smoke again. Just to add the person in question is now 3 years free from the weed and said he has never felt so good, with reward from better health and more wealth. so i began to read, at first a little dubious as is everything, the reason being i have failed 6 times previous and information even from our trusted NHS hasn’t worked for me.

I can say your book wasn’t just the best thing i have ever read but the most informative in such a strange and diverse way, it was a breath of fresh air to read. The information you have buried into my mind has replaced any fear of the nasty poison returning. i was finding the ordeal which was what it was at first very difficult, until the whole event turned from a chore into a life changing experience, i am still having niggles from the giant monster in my head, but i thrive off beating him, the feeling of starving him makes me so happy and joy full.

I Was a smoker for 10 years, and the past 5 have been the most difficult due to depression, bad anxiety and major loss in confidence. the last 5 days have felt the happiest i can remember of my life, the pure joy i get when i wake up in the mornings, the new smells the taste of food everything about my life has taken a complete turn for the better.

I wanted to take the time out to thank you for your help, i have never had information like yours put in front of me before, and you have changed my life, from a once contracted smoker and a slave to the poison, to a fresh chested confident young man

You are A brilliant man, your work should be shouted from the roof tops, if there should be a medal for anything in this world, it should be your work

I am signing off this email as a 27 year old male, NON SMOKER! and loving life (ALL) because of help from Mr Allen Carr

Thank you

Managed to stop smoking using the book 6yrs ago but started after 4 months- I did not follow the simple rules and I didnt re-read the book for support. I have just stopped again- 8 weeks ago and I know this time that is it! I am a none smoker for life. I just pick up the book and remind myself of the trap if i start to feel i am missing cigarettes. Works for me! Thanks so much. My son will be attending one of your clinics soon and i am hoping my husband will quit the easyway.

i have tried everything to stop smoking and every time i failed, i’m 3 months pregnant and have always said when i fall pregnant i will give up, this proved harder then i thought, i was getting so angry with myself for harming my unborn baby but every time i tried to just stop the little monster would start then my stressing for no reason, i then ordered your book easy way to stop smoking and started to read, even though you said to still carry on smoking i found myself not wanting a fag, now i’m on day 5 and i can happily say i’m a non smoker, yes i have thought about it but i find this a good thing as i can tell myself no your a non smoker and the excitement i get from that is wonderful. so i would like to say a big thank you to you allen for not only saving my health and life but that of my unborn baby.

yep, didn’t believe it’s going to work either, so sceptical about the whole system…haven’t smoked for 5 months now with stress, lots of alcohol, lots of ‘how do i get to know my work colleagues without it’ nonsense. please give it a fair chance and you will be free, i promise. all my friends are super jealous i could do it and think it was really easy for me

This is the best £8.99 I have ever spent. When I was a smoker I always felt trapped and thought I’d never give up. I tried several times both on my own, with the aid of NRT and through the NHS. The longest I had stopped was no more than two weeks. Those 2 weeks were the longest of my life because I felt I was forcing my body to resist temptation, constantly battling with my cravings, becoming irritable and frustrated until one cigaret lead to another and eventually before I knew it I was back to square one. This book makes you realise that it doesn’t have to be this way. It doesn’t have to be torture, it can be fun and rewarding. All the thoughts I had as a smoker were echoed in this book. Those thoughts I had at this time I used to push to the back of my mind and never confront them. When you read the book you will be amazed at how true and spot on it is!

I smoked approximately 15-20 cigarettes a day for 11 yrs. I read this book 5 months ago and not touched a single cigarette. I now have a spring in my step and remind myself everyday that I’m free from that trap. I only read the book once and I handed the book to my dad who has gone 1 month without a cigarette so far which is unheard of!

I would not go back to smoking now. I have such a positive outlook and love the way it makes me feel to be a non-smoker. I don’t get out of breath as easily anymore, my skin, hair and teeth look much healthier and no more shooting pains, no mood swings. Any stressful moment I don’t even think about a cigarette!

Only one word can sum this book up and that’s ‘Genius’ I always recommend it to anyone I know trying to give up and will continue to do so. Think how many lives this book could save, this needs to be more recognised!

Thank you Allen Carr!

i was a dedicated smoker for over 25 yrs; and attended Raynes Park UK site.

i attended TEWTSS in 1998, after deliberated for around 6 months because i was so afraid of the thought of hypnotherapy… when i finally
got the courage i was very pleased that i did. the receptionist was relaxed but welcoming; the room was amazing…cigarettes, lighters tobacco and rolling paper all around the room… oh, and lighters. those who did not have any with them were invited to select their brand. amazing…the content was intelligent logical but not judgemental. the final process felt more like visualisation than hypnotherapy… i left feeling great. the group was friendly with people from all backgrounds bonded in a common cause.

to cut a long story… the best thing i have ever done. i was smoking 40 per day @ £3.50 per pack of 20; paid £120.00 for the 1/2 day session; (ever since then I have rewarded myself with 3 lottery lines each week. but no big wins… Sigh!) the next day i arrived at the office very late, there were 2 angry clients waiting for me and the receptionist was not happy. i went in the staff room took a deep breath and i though…this is when i would normally have a cigarette…took a deep breath and launched into the day.

memorable comment: The facilitator said that people often approached him saying that although they had not smoked for some time, they still yearned for one cigarette. he said, the comment was symptomatic of a ‘deprived smoker’ rather than ‘non-smoker’

i have not smoked since April 1998 due to TEWTSS, money spent worth… every penny and a great experience for me.

8 weeks since I went on the seminar in Brighton, it’s been really easy I’m certain I’ll never want to smoke again, forget nicotine replacement, do the seminar and just stop no pain just happiness you’ve moved on from smoking. I would suggest every smoker who ever has considered quitting try Alan Carr and be set free from smoking forever.
